Hickory Hill Farm is a Registered 501c3 Non-profit that was founded by a small group of people whofelt an overwhelming need to give back to their community on several different levels. This group of people all had one thing in common: They all shared an undeniable passion for helping animals as well as people. Over the course of several months and various round table meetings, the dream of Hickory Hill Farm was developed to meet the needs of both people and livestock animals, and the founders began turning their dream into a reality.
It is the mission of Hickory Hill Farm to provide a retreat where adults, children, and animals alike can find peace, happiness, and healing.
Hickory Hill Farm strives to accomplish our mission by having three basic functions, which can be found in our motto: “Rescue, Play, Heal”.
The rescue division of Hickory Hill Farm exists to rescue, rehabilitate, retrain if needed, and rehome each equine or livestock animal that comes through our barn doors. Our rescue team exists primarily to assist law enforcement; however, as our resources are available, we do, from time to time, consider owner surrenders. There is a sanctuary program that utilizes rescued animals for our other programs as well. Animals in our sanctuary program will always have a home at Hickory Hill. Our sanctuary animals may attend our kids camps or you may find them helping people heal through our therapy programs.
The play portion at Hickory Hill Farm involves our Kid’s Camps. Hickory Hill Farm camps, developed by Tennessee highly qualified teachers, provides children with an overnight camp experience without ever bringing a sleeping bag! Campers are given the choice of choosing their OWN camp each week. Families have the opportunity to creatively plan their own camp experience at an affordable price! A variety of camps are offered, including, Girl Power, Dude Camp, Harry Potter, Zombie Survival, and Backyard Sports. In addition to their own focused camp, campers will also have a chance to enjoy our morning meeting – complete with sing-alongs, cool off daily at the slip n’ slide during the summer, participate in leadership/teambuilding activities, enjoy a game of GAGA (a form of Israeli dodge ball with soft dodge ball), and will finish off the week with a BBQ!
The final important aspect of Hickory Hill Farm is its’ ability to provide healing. Our farm is a retreat for people and animals alike. Everyone is welcome at the farm regardless of race, religion, past hardships, etc, and we strive to have programs that will accommodate specific needs as they arise. It is our goal for people and animals to leave our farm in a better place than when they arrived. We do this on the animal side, obviously, by providing the proper care for mishandled, neglected, and abused livestock animals. Certified Therapists and Counselors volunteer their time at Hickory Hill to aid in the healing of the people that come to us.
